Absences

It is a requirement that parents inform the school should a child be absent.

At Bayswater PS we use an SMS Notification System for parents to inform us of an absence and for the school to inform parents of any unexplained student absences.

If your child is absent from school please send an SMS to 0439 520 999 with your child's full name, reason for absence and the date/s applicable.

If an explanation is not provided to the school by 9.30am an Absentee SMS will be sent to parents at 10.00am for any unexplained absences. Parents are asked to reply with your child's name, reason and date.

Parents can send an email to their teacher, verbally inform their class teacher or the front office. The SMS notification system is the preferred method to communicate absences.

Late Arrivals

We encourage punctuality at the commencement of the school day. Parents are asked to ensure that students are at their classroom by 8.40am to prepare for the start of the school day, which commences at 8.50am.

If you do arrive after 8.50am please go to the front office to sign your child in late and collect a Student Late Pass to give to your classroom teacher.

If you need to collect your child during the school day for any purpose you must go to the front office to sign them out, using the Passtab system.

Before School

The school cannot guarantee supervision of students before 8.20am. If your child arrives prior to 8.20am they are to sit on the seats outside the staffroom.

From 8.20am to 8.40am there is a before school activity in place for students in Years 1 - 6 which is coordinated by the Deputy Principal, Dave Dique and Physical Education Specialist,  Jesse Doney . Students go to the school oval to participate in a walk or run club or games. If the weather is not conducive to this, students will be supervised in the undercover area.

At 8.40am, students are dismissed to their classroom areas.  Classroom doors open at 8.40am and students need to prepare for the school day

Kindergarten and Pre-primary students must be handed over to the staff from 8.40am. At the end of the day, Kindergarten and Pre-primary students will be released into the care of their parents/carers. Alternative arrangements outside of this should be made ahead of time with the class teacher.
